Tax Exemption
Although the tax system in Dubai is not completely tax-free, it is quite simple and advantageous.
Depending on your company turnover, certain taxation brackets apply.
Full exemption is provided for small businesses, while companies above a certain income are subject to low-rate taxation.
Under $800,000
If your company has an annual turnover of less than $800,000, you will be exempt from tax if you apply for SME (Small and Medium Enterprise) and are certified.
You don’t pay corporate income tax and can run your business at a low cost.
Over $800,000
If your annual turnover exceeds $800,000, up to $100,000 of your net profit is exempt from taxation.
For the portion exceeding $100,000, only 9% corporate tax is applied.
Example calculation
Let’s say your company has an annual turnover of $950,000 and your expenses (salary, operational
costs, etc.) are $580,000. In this case, your net profit would be $130,000.
In Dubai, the tax system requires that the first $100,000 of net profit is exempt from tax. A 9% tax is applied on the remaining $30,000 profit.
In this case, the tax you have to pay is: $30,000 x 9% = $2,700
